| If you are using your own domain as your
outgoing (smtp) server and you get a "relaying
denied" or other sending error:
We have to use what is called
"authentication" to keep spamming people from abusing
our servers without us knowing. What this means is that you will
have to check your email first. That lets the server know you are
online and "authenticates" your account before you can send mail
with that account. The server will recognize you usually for
several hours after you check your mail the first time, but if you sign
off you will have to authenticate again. After several hours, it will
ask you to authenticate again also. This helps us keep spam from
going out from our mail servers.
You may get an error if you try to
send mail (through your e-mail software) from your domain without
authenticating first. All you have to do if you get that error is
to check your incoming email to let the server know it's you, and then try
sending it again. If
you consistently get those errors after authenticating you may have a
problem with your ISP. Contact your
ISP and ask them if you are allowed to send mail with another mail
server. If you have checked and it is
not your ISP, please send e-mail
and we will investigate it
for you.
Please note: if you are logged onto the Internet
via America Online, Prodigy, Earth link, CompuServe or another proprietary online service,
you can not use POP or software other than theirs to pick up or send mail from your domain.
To compensate for that, we set up your
domain mail so that it is forwarded to your AOL account.
You can always pick up or send mail online after
logging into your domain account (http://www.your-domain.com/up). |
